We have so much available to us today. So many places we can go; so many things we can do and see. When did we leave behind the simple pleasures in life?
If you had to “unplug” for a week, even a day, could you do it? Give this some serious thought. We are so dependent on just our phones for everything we do. When did you last just spent time with yourself engaged in an activity that didn’t require a computer, cell phone, or tablet?
OK, let’s shift. When did you last call someone instead of messaging them? I find myself sending a text message because that’s what people prefer. Why do you think that is? Technology gives us the ability to connect and distance ourselves from each other. What a paradox. There is a connection with a certain amount of “don’t get too close.”
Take some time this week and get back to the basics—whatever those are for you. You’ll refresh your mind and spirit in the process. (Colossians 3:15)
p.s. let me know what getting back to the basics means to you.
