Mother’s Day (strike through that)

This day is filled with celebrating birth, nurturing, and the core meaning of love. It’s the beginning of the cycle of life and the continuation of our species. But for many, this day is one of pain, brokenness, defeat, or maybe even anger. 

We don’t all live the Norman Rockwell idea of an idyllic life. Oh, how I wish it were that simple and easy, but it’s messy and complicated. People aren’t perfect; we make mistakes. Not every woman is designed to be a mother, and not every woman is able to bear children. Some of us lose our mothers too early or at pivotal moments in our lives. Some have absentee mothers or self-absorbed mothers. Be mindful that not everyone has a great mom. 

So today, as you honor and celebrate your beautiful mother, please take a moment to offer up prayers and positive thoughts to those who are grieving, angry, or lost today. They need your support and love. (John 13:34)
