Today we honor those who served to protect the rights and freedoms we enjoy every day. Some of them made the choice to serve, while others were called. Still, all did so that this country can continue to be the land of promise and freedom for all.
As I reflect on the rights given to us by the Constitution of the United States, I am awed by the foresight of those who came before us. This document guarantees the same protections for all U.S. citizens (regardless of their legal status) as well as foreign nationals. If the rights of just one person are violated, despite their legal status, anyone’s rights can be dishonored. This makes a mockery of the sacrifices those who served our nation with honor, blood, sweat, and the horrors of war.
Today consider your freedoms, the sacrifices made for you to have them, and what it takes to protect them for today and future generations. (Romans 12:10)
