Ah, a day of pampering. It’s all about me—facial, massage, pedicure, manicure, relaxation, and refreshment. Scrubbed, buffed, and polished. What could be better?
Today is my spa day, but there’s a twist. It’s another chemo infusion day, but I call it a spa day. I’m not getting any of the traditional treatments, but the day is all about me. The nurses are fabulous; they take wonderful care of me, seeing to my every need. The therapy has a greater impact on me than any facial or massage ever has; it’s life-saving.
I could approach this treatment grim-faced and angry, but why? Will it change my situation for the better? No. It would actually make it worse. While I do have spa days that include facials and massages, this is my cancer-killing spa day, and I choose to approach it with a positive attitude.
Today is about life, Thanksgiving, and praise for the One who loves me and always cares for me. My audience of One. (Exodus 33:19)
