Think about the creative process: a recipe, clothing, a house, a road, a garden plan. None of these begin in a void or a place that inhibits experimentation. Our world is based on color and the bold expression of ideas and thoughts. Imagination is the root of everything.
Your imagination isn’t only an escape from a reality that is overwhelming. It’s also a tool of change, advancement, and creativity. Lucian of Samosata, a Syrian-Greek writer of the second century, wrote “A True Story,” a tale about traveling to the moon. While space travel didn’t occur for over 17 centuries, a spark was lit. In the 15th century, Leonardo da Vinci designed models for the first cars. Science fiction and fantasy writers fascinate me because they have to create entire worlds, cultures, languages, and people. The imagination required for this type of project is astounding. Maybe one day, their ideas will be part of our world.
Imagination is the genesis of all that we do. (Romans 12:2)
