“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” (Mary Oliver, “The Summer Day”)
We all experience defining moments in our lives, times when our life pivots from where we are or what we expected it to be. We don’t have control over that; what we do determine is how it changes us, how we use this course correction.
There are things you could not have accomplished without the changes made because of “life happening” to you. Each change is an opportunity, a chance to use the experience to make a difference—to others, a “cause”, our environment. We are not meant to be stagnant, but ever growing and evolving. We are the sum of our life experiences; every adventure, every ordeal provides opportunities for us to increase our understanding of the world around us.
Grand gestures are not required to make great changes. Your life is an important piece of this world’s puzzle—a puzzle is incomplete without all of its pieces. How can you enrich your effect? What do you want your life to say about you? (Jeremiah 29:11)
