It’s here, the last day of the year. That day of retrospection and planning. We’ve been thinking about this day and planning for it; contemplating what to change, add, or do differently in the new year. As we think, plan, and organize the tools and supplies necessary to reach our goals, some may have to be saved for another time. Others may fall so neatly into the puzzle of our life that we wonder why we haven’t already done this “thing.”
Just one change, one pivot, one goal can make a difference. The difference may be in your life, it may be in the lives of your family, it may be in your community. Life is not stagnant. Look at the world around you. See how the landscape changes with the seasons? The animals around prepare for the winter? The changes you are contemplating for next year are preparing to sustain you and possibly others in the future.
The focus right now is on you. What are you doing to sustain yourself and keep yourself healthy in the coming year? One change that affects your mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual health (MEPS) can change your attitude, your outlook on life. Start with a small, manageable change, one you are most likely to accomplish each day. Surprise yourself. (Psalms 37:5)
