I am blessed to live in an area where I have many options available to me for expert opinions on my healthcare needs. As with many things in life, not everyone agrees on what is the best course of treatment. That’s where second and third opinions provide more opportunities. Now we muddy the waters a bit with homeopathic treatments.
There are people who have lived “clean” lives and develop cancer, and others who “pollute” their bodies and never have cancer. It knows no boundaries; it afflicts the rich, the poor, the healthy, and the weak. There are FDA-approved treatment plans, clinical trials, and alternative options. The whole experience can be one of competing possibilities. What do you do? Where do you turn for help?
Your experience may be: I went through traditional frontline treatment, and that didn’t eradicate the cancer, so now my doctor talks about a different course of chemotherapy or maybe a clinical trial because there are better options available. But wait, I’ve read accounts of others healing themselves through a protocol of different supplements and healthier eating habits. Maybe I’m better off following a non-traditional path of healing. Maybe I can cobble together a plan using traditional and non-traditional methods. But what if one inhibits the other’s efficacy? How do I know if that’s happening? How do I know what’s the best course of treatment for me?
I’m not in the middle of these competing options…yet. Anyone may be faced with a similar duel of experts or treatment plans. All we can do is collect the information, research, and weigh the options, and use common sense to make the best choice. It’s not always that easy, but it’s the best we have. (Jeremiah 30:17)
