Does your soul, your heart, your body need to heal? We all have times when we feel buffeted by the storms of life; roadkill looks better than we do at these times. What do you do to recharge, restore yourself?
The world today is full of opportunities for restoration and healing; some are conventional and some may be outside of your box of restoratives. We all need time to rejuvenate in order to do our best; there’s a reason we earn paid-time-off from our jobs. You don’t need to be physically ill to need healing. Sometimes we just need a mental health day. There may be activities you’re already doing for yourself that are restorative. The quiet time you spend each morning in prayer or meditation. The time you take to exercise every day. Weekly meets with friends (coffee, book club, crafting, the gym). These are other forms of healing or even preventative care. This time you set aside for yourself is just as important as your routine checkups with your physicians—please schedule those appointments as well. Mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being are all part of the package of being a healthy person. (Psalms 34:18)
Schedule time for yourself today. Even a fifteen-minute break in the sunshine can renew your heart and refresh your spirit. Your emotional and mental health is as important as your physical health.
