Our society praises and honors those who promote themselves. It’s difficult to advance without marketing ourselves. Some are very good at this, while others are learning how to do so. Still others never quite learn, or do they choose a different route in life?
No one gets where they are without help. You may be a visionary, a brilliant mind, or a creative genius, but there is someone or a team of people that help you. You don’t bring your vision to life without a team to support you. A brilliant individual or a creative genius needs nurturing and guidance to aid in the full development of their potential. Oftentimes, we don’t recognize our need to acknowledge the help of others in our success. We feel the drive to accept or even take all of the credit for what we have achieved.
Actions do speak louder than words. There are ways to market yourself for advancement while acknowledging the contribution of others. There are important and valuable traits linked to the word humble: authentic, ethical, honorable, and trustworthy. These strong characteristics have resonated across the centuries. Don’t discount their significance in your life or your future. (Matthew 5:3)
