We all struggle with emotional pain, especially this time of year when we are trying so hard to meet the needs of many friends and family. We give out so many pieces of ourselves in an effort to make others happy, our joy becomes tarnished (remember, joy is lasting, happiness is fleeting). We’re not the only ones experiencing this hurt—those you’re trying to help maybe be struggling as well.
How do we continue to meet the needs of those around us, those we love and cherish (that’s why we continue to give so much of ourselves to them) without losing our joy?
Where does your joy come from? Does it come from acknowledgement of help, praise, superiority because you could help someone? If this is the foundation, I’m sorry to say, but this isn’t joy. If joy comes from being able to lighten a burden, provide comfort, and care, then the joy comes from just being able to provide that solace.
However, you may need a time a refreshment to heal. Take that time for you, find your peace, renew your joy. There will be someone who helps you just as you have helped many others. Prayers for peace, joy, and healing ❤️🩹. (Proverbs 17:22)
