Human behavior really hasn’t changed over the millennia.
“Today, see if you can stretch your heart and expand your love so that it touches not only those to whom you can give it easily but also to those who need it so much.” Aristotle (380 BC-322 BC)
“It’s not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” Mother Teresa (1910-1997)
These two ideas spanned almost 2,400 years. We can say just about anything, in any language, but our actions are a language that transcends the words that we utter. Sometimes, in the words of the Meghan Trainor song, “If your lips are moving, then you’re lyin’.” (Kevin Kadish / Meghan Trainor, Lips are Movin’, 2015.)
Most of us have been in a relationship that at least gave ”lip service” to the idea of love. I say that because love without actions isn’t love. Read below. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Christian, religious, or not. These words are universally accepted as what love is.
[Love] always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:7)
We’re human and we all make mistakes, but this is what love looks like.
I’m looking at myself this morning and thinking about my relationships, taking stock of my failings, and looking for ways to improve. It’s a new day and a chance to start fresh. Let your actions speak louder than your words.
