Love is…

What a daunting opener. Should love be used towards inanimate objects such as food or objects or reserved for people, beloved pets (some would quash animals)? Do you subscribe to only love for people you know or do you embrace love of all people, mankind, womankind, children? Is your heart moved by the plight of others or do you think they should work harder? Do you ask yourself, “What mistake did they make to end up where they are?”

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. (1 Corinthians 13:4)

I believe we overuse the word love in relation to inanimate objects—I’m guilty of this as well. Love is about our actions and the condition of our heart when we perform those actions. True love expects nothing in return, but to see their love or the receiver happy. That is what I accept as love.

So, the next time you say, “ I love…” remember how powerful a word it really is before you use it so casually.

p.s. I do love Remy and Dazey. They’ve been by my side supporting me, providing comfort. I see the love for me in their eyes. They’re members of my family.
