Mercy

We all want mercy, but weigh offering it. We think people should be accountable for their choices. Hmm…it’s funny that we don’t feel the same way when we’re faced with the results of our actions. Are our scales broken?

Our “me” society tends to scoff at mercy. There have been and always will be those in need. Mercy is the physical expression of our compassion for others. This is our opportunity to improve, if not our community or the world, at least someone else’s life. Yes, there are times when we (others) have to face the consequences of our actions, but maybe if we show mercy, those times are less frequent. (Matthew 5:7)

Before you pass judgment and render a decision on consequences, think about setting aside that “ruling” or being less harsh in your correction. How much more powerful is mercy? This is a matter of the heart, not just the mind.
