While this is actually a political turn of phrase, I choose a literal interpretation. Animals know how to have fun!
I once looked out my kitchen window to see my gelding twirling a halter around his head, only to chuck it, trot across the pasture to pick it up, and do it all over again. He’s a nut! I’ve watched calves curiously sniff cats, only to be schooled with a smack on the nose. Dazey likes to stalk prey in the backyard and then try to sneak her prize into the house. Fortunately, so far, they haven’t been alive when she’s presented them to us for praise. I think my absolute favorite is when Remy and Dazey have a party while I’m gone. Now and again, I’ll make the mistake of leaving a bag of chips or bully sticks where they just manage to reach them—both dogs are scent hounds. When I come home to whatever mess they’ve created, Remy meets me joyfully at the door with the evidence of his misadventures in his mouth to show me what a great time he had.
Don’t take life too seriously. There’s so much joy to embrace. Let it soothe your soul and energize you. Party like Remy and Dazey. (Ephesians 4:23)
