We need a supportive group of people to help us through the highs and lows of life. We’ve heard about brothers and brotherhood, and a band of brothers. Let me tell you about my sisterhood.
We’re from all over the world, different socioeconomic groups, races, and religions. We span ages from teens to eighties. Most of us have never met in person, but we support each other through online groups. Some of us form tight, personal connections, and we go the extra mile to meet in person. We’re there for middle-of-the-night meltdowns when no one else is available or frankly would understand. We share heartache, joy, laughter, and sorrow.
I didn’t choose this sisterhood, but they are my sisters, and they have enriched my life, changed me.
We have a common unifying factor: ovarian cancer. We support, educate, uplift, and pray for each other every day. This is my sisterhood. (Proverbs 17:17)
