“Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero. Seize the day, trusting little in the future.” There’s nothing new under the sun. The idea existed, but the quote was first attributed to the poet Horace in 23 BCE. Don’t let life pass by you without living it to its full measure.
We have many excuses that we trot out for not doing something. “I’m too old.” Do you have the desire and the vision? Why would you limit yourself by a number? Will it bring you joy, a sense of accomplishment? Do it! “I don’t know if I can do it.” You’ve already failed if you don’t try. Sometimes the winners in a race aren’t those who cross the finish line first, but those who just cross it. It’s not always about winning, but about the preparation and the journey. “People will think I’m crazy or silly.” Why do you care? This is about you and what fulfills you. Others only wish they had the same courage and ambition to go after what they want.
You are the visionary, architect, and executor of your desires. Go boldly forward into the future. Be prepared to be changed and possibly to change the world.
